up and at 'em today

Alex called me today and got me out of bed. I was half asleep but not motivated enough to get out of bed, so I was glad she called. She had Josh's windows tinted for their anniversary and we did the car swap thing. Eventually she came over and we played Guitar Hero for a little bit. She played the Guitar for a while, then she tried the mic from Rock Band, which worked just fine, so we did four or five songs. Alex is good at the singing part. I've never tried it. I liked the way it looked on GHWT (Guitar Hero World Tour) so I might try that sometime when I'm alone. I played this afternoon, too, and made some progress on the game, but I'm kinda stumbling around. There's not a lot of instructions written down. I suppose I could do the tutorial, but what's the fun of that?

I got an invitation in the mail from Alex's grandma to a Halloween party in Paris, TX on Saturday, a costume party. Alex is asking a couple of questions for me, regarding Ozzy, mostly. I'm expecting to stay in a hotel with him, since it sounds like they're going to have a house full of relatives that night. There is going to be a costume contest. Sigh. And they are trying to figure out driving combinations. Poor Mark. He lost his dad last week, and Alex just told me that one of his best friends from high school just came back to Altus, was moving back from California, and died a few days ago, so Mark won't be there. He must be reeling. So that may or may not be what I'm doing this weekend. It sounds like fun, but I do think I need a place where I can retreat to to rest when I need it, cause I've been having that kind of week.

Oh, how could I forget this. I talked to my dad yesterday for his birthday and we were discussing the tumblies and how to get rid of them, and I finally decided the best way to go about it was to take the big trash can to them, lay it on its side and rake them into it, keeping them as intact as possible, so they wouldn't release seeds. So this morning I get up and when I let Ozzy out in the front yard I take a look around the side to see how they are looking (the last time they had shifted again to about 5.5 to 6 feet high on my side of the fence and lower on my neighbors, cause of another wind shift.) Well, imagine my surprise when I see NO tumblies. I look on the other side of the house, none there either, and none in the backyard except for a very few that are caught up in the garden and are up against the gate on the east side. Wiped clean. It's been a very weird experience, but I guess it's done now.
